What college courses might I need to take to become an author?

I am currently in the stage of deciding what I would prefer to be when I am in adult. All of my choices are rather far fetch but I should at least try considering these are things I love and I am rather good at them. So, what College courses, or what would I need to major in to become an author? Tell me exactly how I could become an author please.

There are no educational requirements to become an author. As a matter of fact, many authors write in their free-time and work a ‘regular’ job. Some helpful courses would be communications courses, journalism courses, English courses, literature, creative writing, etc…

Would you buy a house if it were shown empty or staged?

We’re selling our house. We have the option of staging it, or emptying it out completely and selling it. It’s a modest size home 1700 sq ft, so it’s not tiny but it’s not huge either. Are you more likely to buy a home that you’ve seen "move in ready" or setup to feel like a home?

I’ve shopped for houses and seen both. Doesn’t really matter to me personably. I know how to imagine my stuff in there..lol..and plus I know it takes time to file the paperwork & settle on a closing date so I never got worried. I knew when the time came it was mine ..:-)

Inflated cost of house?

Am selling a house, it was sold for $50,000. At the signing yesterday, the documents say that the house was sold for $63,000. I asked about it, and the broker said it was "just fluff" because the buyer couldn’t get a mortgage without inflating the price.
We were expecting to get about $10,000 after everything was said and done, but we’re only getting $3150, yet the same paperwork says we’re getting over $21,000.
The buyer in this case has been, for the last 7 years, on a verbal lease to pay all bills on this house while he lived there, until he could get his own mortgage. Upon serving him with a 10 day eviction notice, he decided he wanted to buy the house.
He hasn’t paid the trash since 2002, is always late with the mortgage payments (in my husband’s name!!) and the remaining amount on my husband’s mortgage should have been only around $15,000, but due to all the late payments from the lessee, it ended up being $34,000.
Any advice? Anything illegal going on with the sale?

This wasn’t my house, by my husband’s. He signed the papers, and then started asking questions.
This house has gotten my daughter cut off from SSI because her step-dad (my husband) owns it, and it’s counted as a resource. The broker said he will send us new paperwork showing the $3150 we’re getting, which is basically a new set of the papers recieved at the signing. This just sounds so fishy to me.
No, my hubby was not represented by an attorney, he thought he could trust these people as he’s worked with them several times before.
The tax issues are a problem. I’m a tax preparer, and I know all about capital gains tax and how it can screw up a refund. Again, the broker said he is sending us a new copy of the forms to "show SSI" and "for the IRS" showing the gains of $3150.

Yes, this is mortgage fraud. I would find a lawyer and if you haven’t gone through with the sale yet, or could back out of it, I would. You could end up being sued by the bank or whoever is lending the money on this deal.

Why do books start off with a story?

Speaking of Self Education or information type books. When you really want to get to the guts in a book, you can’t. Sometimes they drag out a personal story for 15 pages. "I was walking down the street in my home town and…. "Then another story about jack and jane, then another. Then about 1/4 way through the book you are board with it. Why all the fluff. Why don’t they directly write to the reader and break everything down?

Stories are used to connect the reader to the author. Most are vague and easy to relate too. A lot of them I don’t like either, and when you read college text books every single chapter starts with a story. Sometimes they give good insight to the topic but can be boring and drag on i agree.
