so over the last few weeks my year old pit-bull has been getting worse and worse. we would come home to a destroyed house. everything torn up, remotes, phones, papers, stuffed animals, couches. you name it.

it is now getting worse. she is tearing things up when people are home but in another room. there are multiple dogs at the house including her sister. none of the other dogs seems to be par-taking in this behavior but just the one. Just today while my gf was doing laundry in the other room my dog went in and tore up the bed. Fluffing everywhere! We are looking at getting her fixed next weekend. but why would she be doing this. I was thinking separation anxiety but now I’m not sure. She has never been destructive while we were home. HELP!

1. Get her MORE exercise. A tired dog doesn’t do anything. She may have been getting the same amount she used to but it might not be enough anymore. My pit is just over a year old and she used to be fine with 2 15 minutes walks. Now she requires at least a 30 minute run and sometimes that isn;t even tiring her out. If she doesn’t get enough exercise, she not only destroys things but eats the destroyed peices – be glad you don’t have to pay the vet bills for that.

#2. It def. could also be seperation anixety so you can try some of the comfort calm from the pet stores or rescue remedy brand supplies which can help. Getting fixed should also help some.

#3. If there isn’t a food aggression issue in your house try giving her a bone like a bully stick – easy to digest and lasts for hours.

#4. Get a crate. My pit loves her crate – when we can’t find her she normally goes in there on her own to sleep — or if we ask her if she wants to take a shower It saves her from eating/destorying harmful things and it saves our stuff (and a trip to the vet to our stuff removed from her stomach). WHen you aren’t actively watching her keep her in the crate until this behavior stops.

Good luck.

Hi!
We got our Baby lovebird today which we are going to handraise!
At the moment it has no feathers (its about 4-5 weeks old) it only has tiny bits of fluff around its neck and body. How long will it take to grow it feathers?
Also when will we know when its ready to housed in it’s cage?
When will it be old enough to start teaching tricks(step up, step down, turn around etc…)?
Thanks for any help!

hi i raised lovebirds before about a year ago and still have one of them i raised,,,, well the grow really fast, in just like 4 weeks you will see it completely feathered. Make sure you keep it in a warm area, perhaps put it under a warm light, which they sell in pet stores, and in a little fish tank or box…… Feed it at least twice a day, morning and night..Only when it starts to Fly around, put him in the cage, also as he grows, put a little bit of seeds, like on a small little flat surface container…… he will start pecking on it and eventually it will feed on his own sooner than you think……… Make sure you play with it sufficiently…pet it any minute you could…

I could be nice and find you a sugar coated "it’ll be fiiine" answer, but honestly, if your pets are dying, you shouldve been at an avian vet a long time ago. One batch is a coincidence, but so many dead birds is obvious reason for concern and reason to take more action than yahoo answers. It could be a reaction to the environmet, genetic, contagious, ect. Talking to a vet immediatly would be your best bet.

of course, without hitting her, because thats just cruel.
But she needs to understand she is an indoor cat, and the busy road out the front of my house has big cars that wont stop while she plays on the road.
she is an indoor breed, so please dont say I should let her run free. i paid alot of money for her and im not going to let her get squashed on the road.
please, any suggestions on how to train my 3 month old ball of fluff to understand that she is an indoor cat… and thats just the way it is!

Hi there…Be sure to be guarded when opening and closing doors so your kitten doesn’t bolt outside. Consider startling by rattling a can of loose change where she cannot see you when she approaches the door to help her learn that the door is an unpleasant place to go near. If she sees you rattling the can she will not learn to be afraid of the door only the can that is making that horrible noise. So you have to time this properly and be not visible when doing this each time. Cats are naturally inquisitive so they will make several attempts to see if it was just a one time occurrence.

When kittens chew, lick objects consider a pet spray on deterrent you could try a pet-friendly product called Grannick’s Bitter Apple http://www.grannicks.com which is citrus and most cats find repulsive places that’s it’s applied. This product is available worldwide at most pet stores.

Another thing to consider is to use double-side sticky tape on the horizontal surfaces for awhile to train the cats to stay off. Cats dislike having their paws stuck to the tape and soon learn to avoid unpleasant areas. This method is beneficial because you don’t have to be physically there to catch them rather they learn for themselves, which is ideally a better method to train cats.

They both shed way to much, the wolf has 20% siberian husky mixed so he is everywhere. I’m going to have to shorten his hair to be cooler this summer and would love to do something constructive with it. the rabbit has hair fluffs picked and brushed up all over the house. what could be made from it, and what would I need to do it with, tools, mechanisms etc.?
They get along great together also cause Haniah(the wolf) even slept in Patches(the bunny)cage right after he was winged, so I guess the wolf considers the rabbit part of his pack and will actually protect it, believe it or not.

Its not recommended to shear dogs during the summer, contrary to what us humans think, their coat actually keeps them protected from the sun and heat.

What you can do for both, is keep brushing and I mean every day. You can use the fur to spin and make yarn, simply weave, crochet or knit a project.
