I heard one week, I heard two weeks.
I’ve been doing it two weeks.
I always change anything that looks wet.
And when she piles up her own poop, I take that out too.
I’m not using shaving neither, some other almost fabricy like bedding.
it’s more expensive.
It says it compacts to 6 grams and absorbs up to 14 or something.
And what’s more is she only seems to get cozy if I leave it longer than a week.
omg, one time i left for a week, gave her fresh food and water before i left.
when i came back, not only was she perfectly fine, but she hooked her cage up.
i just a fluff called sweetdreams for her top compartment bed, and her coconut den.
when i came back, she had this dope fluffing house, complete with a toiletpaper tube entrance
right under her water bottle.
is that normal?
and did she only do it because she was left alone for so long?
once a week at least. small pets can easily become very ill in dirty enviroments. pick up poo once a week and completlely change it once a week too. I have had a two rats and a hamster get sick from a dirty cage, all but one (the hamster) died from it eventually. One rat a respitory disease, died overnight and the other cancer. The hamster had wet tail and would have died if we had caught it a few days later.

During the winter you can wait a bit longer then you can during the summer. During the winter I usually change it every two weeks (unless it starts to stink!)
During the summer I change gp coacoa’s cage once a week.
**NOTE I ALSO SOAP CLEAN THE BOTTEM OF THE CAGE ONCE ALL THE CEDER IS OUT ONCE A MONTH (for all the buildup that ends up on the bottom of the cage that you skip really easily when you are just changing the cage)

You must change her bedding every week and a half to two weeks. If you only scoop out what is wet you may not get all of it and it WILL start to grow mold underneath. And personally I know Carefresh bedding is wildly raved about, but i truely prefer softwood bedding. It really is safer. Even in tiny print on the lable they have a disclaimer. Some critters like to eat this bedding, but it swells in their stomach. This can be very dangerous, I lost a hamster to this happening. Just be craeful with these types of beddings.

You shouldn’t leave your hamster alone for so long! get a close friend or relative to take care of her. And you seem to be doing a good job of changing the bedding, but if it smells, change it more often.

Err…it would help to know what type of rodent you are actually talking about….i’d say you should probably clean her litter tray, every other day, that’s what i do for my rabbit, but she’s a rabbit and i don’t know what animal you’re talking about…Her bedding should probably be changed every week maybe…or, if you see it and it looks clean and doesn’t smell, then just leave it a couple of days and then change it–there is no point in wasting good bedding =).
Hope this helped =)
