I bought a new home two years ago. I have wall-to-wall carpet in most of the house. Though I vacuum my carpet everyday and deep clean it once a month, the carpet is starting to get smashed down and doesn’t "fluff" back up when I clean it. Now, this is in areas of high traffic. How can I make my carpet "fluff" back up, and not look so worn down? Any tricks??
yeah, i agree–shampoo it, but w/one of those shampoos that sort of stiffen the carpet. get an old brush and swushy fluff it back up and try some hair spray.

Carpet actually breaks down or loses its ability to stand up after years. There is a tool called a carpet rake. Carpet cleaners sometimes use them to "rake" the carpet to give the appearance that the carpet looks new or newer and to raise the pile temporarily. The carpet will smash down again but it will look good for a short while. You might be able to find one at a store that sells carpet layers tools. I hope this helps.

We had 125 homes, 75 condos and 50 four-pl exes. When we cleaned and shampooed the carpets, after they dried, the next day we went in and, you might not believe this, one person used a straw broom to brush the carpet and one a broom rake, they lightly broomed and raked the carpet into a beautiful new appearance.
