What would you like to ask?Why does my budgie fluff up?

Whenever I walk over to my budgies cage either to refill his food or water, or to accompany him, or when I try and get him use to having me around he will fluff up and shake his tail, I got him yesterday so I`m pretty sure hes not fully sure about my house yet but I`m just wondering why he does this.

Sounds to me like your companion is happy and relaxed – bravo and congrats.

    Budgie is just relaxing and getting used to new surroundings. Give it time. Sometimes they fluff up if they are cold.

    I also have a budgie. Fluffing up is usually a sign of contentment along with preening, vocalizing, etc. I recommend a website called lisashea.com/petinfo/. It has pretty much everything you would want to know about parakeets. Congrats on your new budgie :)
