I’m building a shed, and have a question about roofing. Do I really need to use roofing felt? What is its use?

Roofing felt is what will keep things dry if you lose a shingle or have some other problem. It is cheap, and I would not omit it.

Roofing felt is the protective barrier that keeps the water from leaking in. Yes, you should use it.

I was told years ago they didnt use it because it conflicted with the shingle material, but since then my roofer has told me EVERY roof should use it! and NO it is not the material that keep s the water out…but it does help if you lose a shingle
