Is it less expensive to build a shed than to buy a prefabricated one?

I am looking to install a shed that is at least 16 x 16.
I would rather just buy a cheap metal one and put it up…..i know they dont look that good, but who cares, you get it done in a few hours, i dont think they make metal ones as big as you want, but maybe you can order one.
usually when i start building anything from scratch it takes me several months and i never really finish it

What’s your time worth? Depends on that. And if you have the tools you’ll need.

Do you know how to build one that will hold up? You need to purchase the right material, prepare the ground its going to sit on, etc.

and do you have the skills to build it? how about plans?

it is a lot less expensive, and if you need plans go to Lowes

they make some pretty nice prefab stuff now a days and they are cheaper but for that size building, building from scratch is better quality.

It costs less money. But it takes alot more time to put together. If you build it yourself you can make it exactly the way you want it. If you don’t already have access to the tools, I would go for the pre-fab.

wood yes, metal no, it depends on what you want, you could do like me and just keep agonizing over it until you die, and then it becomes someone elses problem.

Better to buy one.

check with your local high schools they will build one cheap… you buy supplies
