Shows the in-shop work and raising of a hand crafted three bay Quaker carriage shed constructed of Douglas fir to complement a new home. A Tribute to Project Shed
Dad wanted to build a shed in his backyard and I wanted to help. I figured this project would be a great opportunity to work side by side with my Dad. This project sounded more intriguing when you add Dad’s specifications, no kit, no nails…
According to my Dad’s plans the shed was to be 10 feet wide by 12 feet deep and 12 feet high at the peak. The barn style roof of the shed was to match the look of the barn style front of his house. The project was to be built in just 2 weeks.

Amish Barn Raising
We got a fully assembled wooden storage shed, and the friendly Amish people at PA Storage Shed (now Horizon Structures) that delivered it. It’s not easy being Amish. You really can’t drink or watch YouTube, and you have to carry heavy sheds. But at least you get cool overalls.
